A university rooted in its community
Founded to widen access to higher education in central Somalia, Beletwein University brings together eight faculties, a growing research programme and a student body drawn from across the region. Teaching is delivered in small cohorts by qualified academic staff who work closely with local institutions, employers and health services.

Research with local consequence
Our research centres focus on questions that matter in the region: food security and dryland agriculture, maternal and child health, water management, and education policy. Staff and students publish jointly and present at national conferences.
